NeuropeptideNeurotrophic

Cerebrolysin is a porcine brain-derived peptide preparation consisting of low-molecular-weight neuropeptides and free amino acids obtained by standardized enzymatic breakdown of purified pig brain proteins. Manufactured by EVER Neuro Pharma (Austria), it has been used clinically for over 40 years, primarily in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, for the treatment of neurological conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and dementia.,The preparation contains biologically active peptides that mimic the action of endogenous neurotrophic factors, including brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF). This neurotrophic activity is believed to support neuronal survival, promote synaptic plasticity, and facilitate neuroregeneration following brain injury.,Cerebrolysin is approved for clinical use in over 45 countries but is not FDA-approved in the United States. Multiple randomized controlled trials have been conducted, particularly in stroke and Alzheimer's disease, with mixed results. A Cochrane review noted methodological concerns in many published trials. Despite this, it remains widely prescribed in many countries as a neuroprotective and neuroregenerative agent.

How it works

Contains peptide fragments that mimic neurotrophic factors (BDNF, NGF, CNTF, GDNF-like activity), activating neuronal survival pathways including PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK signaling cascades.,Promotes neuroplasticity by enhancing dendritic sprouting, synaptogenesis, and long-term potentiation (LTP) in hippocampal and cortical neurons.,Exerts neuroprotective effects by reducing excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation. May inhibit calpain-mediated neuronal damage and reduce apoptotic cell death after ischemic insult.

Interactions & stacking

What's safe to combine, and what belongs in a separate pin.

Safe & synergistic

NAD+ InjectableNo direct conflict - NAD+ supports cellular energy while Cerebrolysin provides neurotrophic signaling
Injectable B-ComplexB vitamins support neurological function - administer in separate syringes on same day
BPC-157No pharmacological conflict - different tissue targets and mechanisms
PinealonBoth support neurological function through different mechanisms - no known interaction

Keep separate

Any compound in same syringeCerebrolysin is a complex biological mixture - must be administered alone, never mixed with other compounds in the same syringe
