Semax Component: Activates melanocortin receptors (MC3R, MC4R) in the brain, triggering BDNF expression and TrkB receptor activation in the hippocampus and cortex. BDNF is the primary neurotrophin supporting neuronal survival, synaptic plasticity, and the cellular basis of learning and memory. Semax also modulates serotonergic and dopaminergic neurotransmission, increases NGF and GDNF expression, and enhances cerebral blood flow. The Pro-Gly-Pro extension protects against DPP-IV and aminopeptidase degradation. Semax does NOT stimulate adrenal cortisol production at standard doses.

Selank Component: Modulates GABA-A receptor sensitivity to enhance inhibitory neurotransmission without directly binding the benzodiazepine site, preventing sedation and dependence. Influences serotonin (5-HT) metabolism through tryptophan hydroxylase and serotonin transporter dynamics. The tuftsin core (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) provides immunomodulatory activity including enhanced phagocyte function, NK cell activity, and IL-6 expression. Gene expression studies show Selank modulates approximately 80 genes related to GABAergic, serotonergic, and immune pathways.
