Vesugen (Khavinson)
Vesugen (Lys-Glu-Asp, or KED tripeptide) is a synthetic bioregulatory peptide developed by Professor Vladimir Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It is a short-chain tripeptide designed to target the vascular endothelium and support blood vessel function. Vesugen is part of the Khavinson bioregulator family of peptides, which are proposed to regulate gene expression in specific tissues.,Vesugen is intended to normalize vascular wall function by acting on endothelial cells lining blood vessels. According to Khavinson's research, the KED sequence interacts with specific DNA promoter regions in vascular endothelial cells, modulating expression of genes involved in vascular tone, endothelial repair, and anti-thrombotic function. It is primarily used in the context of cardiovascular support and age-related vascular decline.,Like other Khavinson bioregulators, Vesugen is available as both an injectable peptide and an oral capsule form (Ventfort is the brand name of the capsule version derived from animal vascular tissue). It is used clinically in Russia but has not undergone FDA review or been approved for clinical use in Western countries. Published research comes predominantly from Russian academic institutions associated with Khavinson's research group.
