Tribulus (Tribulus terrestris) is a flowering plant traditionally used in Ayurvedic and TCM medicine for libido, vitality, and male reproductive health. Active compounds include protodioscin (steroidal saponin) and other furostanol/spirostanol saponins. Standardized to protodioscin or total saponin content.

How it works
Despite traditional claims, mechanism is NOT testosterone elevation in healthy young men:
Hormone-Independent Libido
Tribulus consistently improves subjective libido and erectile function WITHOUT raising serum testosterone in controlled trials. Mechanism likely involves direct effects on cavernosal smooth muscle and central nervous system arousal pathways.
Protodioscin
Saponin compound proposed as primary bioactive. May modulate androgen receptor sensitivity locally without changing serum hormones.
Possible NO Modulation
Some evidence for nitric oxide pathway involvement in erectile effects.
Female Effects
Studies in women with sexual dysfunction show benefit - argues against pure androgen mechanism since female T levels are much lower.
What to expect
Weeks 1-2: subtle subjective effects.
Weeks 4-12: peak libido effects.
Effects may plateau.
