FGL(L) is a synthetic peptide derived from the neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) that mimics the interaction between NCAM and fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR). NCAM-FGFR signaling is critical for synaptic plasticity, neurite outgrowth, and neural circuit formation. FGL(L) is the L-amino acid version of the FGL peptide, designed to enhance neural plasticity and cognitive function through FGFR activation without requiring cell-cell contact.

Intranasal administration is highly preferred for direct brain delivery. The study cited here is animal research. It shows the mechanism, not a human dose, and this amount is community practice rather than a trial result.

How it works

FGL(L) binds to and activates fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR), mimicking the signaling that normally occurs when NCAM molecules on adjacent neurons interact. This activates downstream pathways including MAPK/ERK and PI3K/Akt, promoting neurite outgrowth, synaptic strengthening, long-term potentiation (LTP), and neural circuit formation. By delivering this signal as a soluble peptide, FGL(L) can enhance plasticity without requiring direct cell-cell contact.

FGL activated FGFR1, enhanced presynaptic function, and promoted synapse formation.

In primary cultures of hippocampal neurons, FGL enhanced the presynaptic function through activation of FGFR1 and promoted synapse formation.

A synthetic neural cell adhesion molecule mimetic peptide promotes synaptogenesis, enhances presynaptic function, and facilitates memory consolidation. The Journal of neuroscience : the official journal of the Society for Neuroscience · 2004 · PMID 15115815

Evidence scope. Preclinical neuron culture; not SubQ human evidence.

Claims we could not support

No abstract we checked supports these for this molecule at this route. That is not the same as saying they are false — it marks where the evidence is missing.

Dose/route: 500 mcg-1 mg SubQ. Human data used single intranasal 25-200 mg doses and was rejected for mismatch.

Repeated-SubQ safety. Intranasal single-dose tolerability cannot establish it.

NCAM mimetic

Confirmed mechanism. Soluble peptide that replicates cell-cell adhesion signaling for neural plasticity.

Interactions & stacking

Two different questions: what is documented about running these together, and what is documented about drawing them into the same syringe. A good pharmacological partner can still have to be pinned separately.

Documented together

BPC-157Non-overlapping
DihexaBoth nootropic
HumaninBoth neuroprotective
P-21Both neurogenesis/plasticity

Keep separate

CJC-1295 with DACDAC maleimide.

Check any specific pair in the Stack & Interaction Checker, which answers both questions separately. Absence of a documented conflict is not evidence of safety.
