Cortagen
Cortagen (Khavinson)
Cortagen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro) is a Khavinson bioregulator tetrapeptide targeting cerebral cortex gene expression. It supports neuronal function, synaptic plasticity, and neuroprotective pathways in cortical tissue. Developed for age-related cognitive decline and cortical function restoration.
Starting dose. 100 mcg — Daily
SubQ injection, any time of day. 10-20 day courses, 2-3 cycles per year with 4-6 months between courses (Khavinson protocol). Pin alone or with other bioregulators only.
Start here. Every protocol below is ordered lowest-first. Begin at the smallest effective dose, hold about a week to assess tolerance, and step up only if needed.
How it works
Cortagen modulates gene expression in cortical neurons, supporting synaptic plasticity genes, neurotransmitter receptor expression, and neuroprotective pathway activation. Works through direct DNA interaction at low concentrations.
What to expect
Days 1-10: Gene changes initiated.
Weeks 2-8: Cortical gene programs established.
Months: Sustained neuroprotective support.
Evidence
Claims we could not support
No abstract we checked supports these for this molecule at this route. That is not the same as saying they are false — it marks where the evidence is missing.
Quick-start dose/route: 100 mcg SubQ daily for 10-20 days. No checked abstract administered Cortagen subcutaneously at this dose. PMID 11276314 used 10 microg/kg intramuscularly in rats for 10 days.
Mechanism: direct DNA interaction and cortical-neuron gene-expression modulation. No checked abstract matched tissue/population. PMID 15159690 measured mouse-heart gene expression; PMID 11713572 measured rat cortex-explant growth.
Primary safety: very well tolerated with only mild injection-site irritation. No human safety abstract for the displayed SubQ regimen was found.

Bioregulatory gene expression modulation in cortical tissue. Russian clinical support.
Interactions & stacking
Two different questions: what is documented about running these together, and what is documented about drawing them into the same syringe. A good pharmacological partner can still have to be pinned separately.
Documented together
Keep separate
Check any specific pair in the Stack & Interaction Checker, which answers both questions separately. Absence of a documented conflict is not evidence of safety.
Side effects & safety
Commonly reported
- Very well tolerated
- Mild injection site irritation
Less common & notes
- Excellent safety profile.
Pharmacokinetics
SubQ
Weeks to months (cortical gene expression changes persist long after peptide clearance)
Rapid enzymatic degradation (peptidases); renal excretion of amino acid components
Storage. Standard BAC water 2-8C. 21-28 days.
Regulatory status
Not FDA-approved. Research peptide.
