Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a medicinal fungus growing on birch trees in cold northern climates. Used for centuries in Russian, Siberian, and Northern European folk medicine. Active compounds include polysaccharides (beta-glucans), triterpenoids (inotodiol, betulinic acid), melanin, and superoxide dismutase (SOD).
