Medicinal Fungus (Ganoderma lucidum / Lingzhi)Traditional Chinese MedicineImmune ModulatorCalming Adaptogen

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum, also known as Lingzhi in Chinese) is a medicinal fungus with a 2,000+ year history in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Often called the 'mushroom of immortality' for its longevity claims. Active compounds include β-glucans (immune modulators), triterpenes (ganoderic acids - anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective), and ergosterol derivatives.

How it works

Reishi acts through multiple bioactive families:

β-Glucans

Activate dendritic cells and macrophages via Dectin-1 and complement receptor 3 - shifts immune balance toward Th1 in infection contexts and modulates inappropriate Th2/Th17 in autoimmune contexts.

Triterpenes (Ganoderic Acids)

Anti-inflammatory via NF-κB modulation; hepatoprotective via antioxidant and Phase 2 detoxification enzyme upregulation.

Ergosterol Derivatives

Vitamin D2 precursors; modulate inflammation.

Calming / Sleep Effects

Mechanism less clear but consistent in clinical trials. May involve GABAergic modulation and sleep architecture improvement.

Long-Term Tonic

Effects accumulate over weeks-to-months; not an acute therapy.
