Route/dose confirmation: in a doping-control excretion study of 7-oxo-DHEA and related preparations (including its acetate ester and a deuterated tracer), a single 100 mg oral dose altered urinary isotope ratios of 7-oxo-DHEA and its metabolite 7β-OH-DHEA for more than 50 hours. The abstract does not specify which of the tested preparations that 100 mg dose actually was.

The CIRs of both 7-oxo-DHEA and 7β-OH-DHEA were significantly influenced for more than 50 h after a single oral dose of 100 mg, and a novel metabolite (5α-androstane-3β,7β-diol-17-one) was found to prolong this detection time window by approximately 25 h.

Repeated dose/frequency: 100 mg orally 1-2x/day. The exact 7-oxo-DHEA abstract supports a single 100 mg oral exposure, not repeated once- or twice-daily use. A 3-acetyl-7-oxo-DHEA study was rejected because the acetylated molecule is not exact 7-oxo-DHEA.
