Rhodiola Rosea (also called golden root or arctic root) is a perennial flowering plant native to high-altitude cold regions of Europe, Asia, and North America (Siberia, Scandinavia, and the Russian Far East). It has been used for over 3,000 years in traditional medicine systems - Soviet/Russian researchers extensively studied it during the Cold War for military and cosmonaut performance enhancement, leading to the modern category of 'adaptogens' (compounds that increase non-specific resistance to stressors). The active compounds are rosavins (rosavin, rosin, rosarin) and salidroside, with rosavin:salidroside 3:1 ratio being the standard for therapeutic extracts.,Rhodiola is one of the most-studied adaptogens with multiple RCTs demonstrating effects on stress-induced fatigue, anxiety, depression (mild-to-moderate), cognitive performance under stress, and exercise endurance. SSRIs (Fluoxetine, Sertraline, etc.)Theoretical serotonin syndrome risk. Most clinical experience suggests low risk at supplement doses, but monitor for serotonin syndrome symptoms (agitation, tremor, hyperthermia).
Stimulant ADHD Medications (Adderall, Ritalin)Rhodiola can amplify activating effects. Some users experience excessive stimulation when combined.
