Hesperidin is a flavanone glycoside abundantly found in citrus fruits, especially the white pith and inner peel of oranges, lemons, and tangerines. It's the most-consumed citrus flavonoid in the typical Western diet (50-200mg/day from juice and citrus consumption). Hesperidin has been used since the 1930s in European pharmaceuticals for chronic venous insufficiency and hemorrhoids (typically as Diosmin/Hesperidin combinations like Daflon), and modern research has expanded its applications to cardiovascular health, anti-inflammatory effects, and metabolic support.,Hesperidin's primary clinical evidence is for vascular health - it improves capillary permeability, supports venous tone, and reduces edema in chronic venous insufficiency. Multiple RCTs at 500-1000mg/day confirm benefit for venous symptoms (heaviness, pain, edema) and hemorrhoidal flares. Acute hemorrhoidal protocol uses higher doses (3000mg/day Diosmin/Hesperidin) for first few days then standard 1000mg/day.
