Beetroot (Beta vulgaris) is a vegetable rich in inorganic nitrate (NO3-), which the body converts to nitric oxide (NO) - a critical signaling molecule for vasodilation, blood pressure regulation, mitochondrial efficiency, and exercise performance. Beetroot is one of the highest dietary nitrate sources, containing 250-500mg nitrate per cup of juice.
